Anne had the great pleasure of serving as a semi-finalist judge at The Bite's Iron Chef Oregon competition. She ate, drank and judged right next to Chef John and his lovely wife Sandy who run the exquisite French Italian restaurant, Newmans at 988, in Cannon Beach.

More re-entry work news: in June, our own Anne O’Malley and Doug Cooper of Mercy Corps Northwest gave the keynote speech at Irvington Covenant CDC's annual dinner. Anne spoke about second chances, the state of our corrections system and a better way to work with those trying to re-gain entrance into our communities. Doug introduced the ROAR Alliance (Re-entry Organizations and Resources), a collaboration of 45 agencies, companies, and community organizations working on the re-entry continuum. The ROAR Alliance, chaired by Doug and Anne, has been meeting now for more than two years.

The ROAR Transition Center (RTC), created by the ROAR Alliance, has been awarded a coveted United Way Community Investment grant and will open on August 17. The RTC will use national evidence based practices to run a re-entry transition center for our folks who are coming out of institutions wanting to start a new life in our community.
